International Campaign Against the Coup in Honduras

Pressured by the international community and in their desperate efforts to cling to power, the de facto government, the Armed Forces and the Police of Honduras are stepping up their repressive actions, with an escalation of violence that has left numerous protesters wounded, arrested and even dead.

Among the wounded is Carlos Reyes, general secretary of STIBYS, along with other leaders of this IUF affiliate, and among those arrested is Juan Barahona, member of SITRAINA, another IUF affiliate, and the leader of the Anti-Coup Resistance Movement.

In view of this critical situation, we are asking you to support our International Campaign to Restore Democracy and Put an Immediate End to Violence in Honduras.

To join the International Campaign, fill out the form below and send the following message to Mr. Roberto Micheletti:

Mr. Roberto Micheletti,

I am writing you to condemn the escalation of repression in Honduras by the Armed Forces and the Police you command, expressing my absolute rejection of the violence unleashed against the people, who are peacefully demonstrating their opposition to the de facto government.

I hold you personally responsible for the consequences of this repression and for the physical well-being of all the Hondurans that are participating in the resistance, and in particular that of our fellow unionists Carlos H. Reyes and other members of STIBYS, and Juan Barahona and the members of SITRAINA, both organizations which are IUF affiliates.

Moreover, I demand the immediate restoration of the democratic order in Honduras, from which you should have never departed.

Cc: Mr. José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the Organization of American States
